Oh, good grief, my mind has gone blank! This is a common phase I hear from entrepreneurs. When your mind is blank, you lose some of the motivation that propelled you to why you wanted to start this journey in the first place. Becoming an entrepreneur means early mornings, late nights, consistently pulling out your notebook to write down a thought in the middle of driving (don’t do this)!
I have been reading about entrepreneurial burnout and how often it happens, surprising it is more common than I thought. It is easy to roll over and hit the snooze button when being stuck, burnout or avoidance happens. It has happened to me more than I would like to admit, I recharge my mind by following a wonderful person named Mel Robbins and her “5 Second Rule“. In a quick snapshot, you have 5 seconds to take action before your mind takes over. Instead of rolling over and hitting the snooze button – leap out of bed! Also, give these morning rituals a try to start your day:
- Leap out of bed
- Workout for 15-20 minutes to get your brain moving (include some yoga, some people include mediate)
- Write (Journaling)
- Planning and Strategy – prioritize your tasks the night before. Tackle the hardest tasks first!
- Eat a healthy breakfast
- Motivate yourself with a motivational question of the day (Steve Jobs asked himself the same question daily in the mirror – “If today were the last day of your life, would you want to be doing what you’re doing?”
- Make your bed!
